RK Summers

Genre: Fantasy

Were we in Westeros, RK would be introduced thusly: "RK the Odd of House Summers, the First of Her Name, the Bookwyrm, the White Witch, Wearer of Hats, Lady Regent of Coffee, Queen of 1980s Fantasy, Protector of Faeries, Defender of Cat, Watcher of Storms, and Singer of Disney Songs."

Born in 1990, England native RK Summers is a great lover and hoarder of books. Her love of the literary world began at five years old, when, as a ridiculously serious child, she wrote her first ‘story’ about a dancing tree, complete with a bittersweet ending as a lament for the loss of fairy tale magic. She was subsequently not a popular child.

She tried again at age eight, attempting a Spyro the Dragon fan-fiction, limited to three A4 handwritten pages per chapter. She took up her pen again at age eleven, once more stabbing at the fantasy world, and attempting a pseudo Lord of the Rings rip-off, including halflings, nine pieces of magical jewellery, and a Dark Lord.

During the Goth years of fourteen to nineteen, between the emotional teenage poetry, she also attempted a vampire/demon novel which she did actually manage to finish. But sadly, it was so agonisingly Emo that reading it back years later caused physical pain.

Thus began the Age of Albion.

Cut to 6 years later, and RK’s debut novel The Old Ways was released into the world.

Her minor life goal is to read fifty books per year. Her major life goal is to be recognised in the street as “that author what wrote them books” or something to that effect. She would also like to one day pen a trippy and disturbing fiction featuring an alliance between Alice Liddell, Dorothy Gale, and Wendy Darling.

In her free time, she enjoys purple things, baking, afternoon tea, book forts, old witchcraft, and Celtic folk music. Her vices include Marvel movies and video games. She currently lives in the North East of England, with zero intentions of leaving her bleak, windswept, and salt-stung homeland.
