Have you ever been confused when buying a book online thanks to all of the peculiar abbreviations and terminology? I know that I certainly have, and it’s a source of irritation when I have to go traipsing around the Internet in order to find out what each thing actually means. Because of this, I have decided to attempt to create a comprehensive list; an ‘A-Z of Books’, if you will. Each week I will be updating the list with at least three new entries, each of them having a small definition or paragraph of explanation.
This will unfortunately, due to time constraints on my part, take the place of one of the weekly articles, unless I’m feeling particularly energetic or at a loose end. Hopefully though, the list will eventually become comprehensive enough for you book lovers and collectors to not need to bookmark half a dozen different sites, simply to be able to understand how an item is being described.
I will include both full terms and abbreviations within the list, to ensure that there’s no confusion. (On my part as well as on the part of the readers). There’s a wish also, that my readers will get in contact with me if you think I’ve left out anything important from the list. After all, it’s meant to be a comprehensive resource, and if there’s something missing, then it isn’t living up to expectations.
This dictionary will start up in the New Year, and will continue to be updated for as long as is required.
Very good post. Thanks for sharing.
