Mark was born and bred in Bradford, West Yorkshire, which probably explains a lot, but these days he lives in Stoke-on-Trent and works in Manchester. He studied political theory at Liverpool University before heading off for London to train as a journalist – but soon got mugged by the novelist within.
As a writer, he’s dabbled in poetry but his mainstay is fiction. With four completed novels under his belt, and a host of short stories, his work straddles the sci-fi/ horror/ fantasy continuum, but Mark’s writing isn’t defined by genre – he prefers to run with his imagination rather than be hamstrung by convention.
Almost seriously, he’s been making things up for two decades now. That’s doubtless rather worrying given the day job as a journalist, but rest assured he remains dedicated to the pursuit of truth (no laughing in the cheap seats, please).
